Canada August 2015: New Hyundai Tucson breaks into Top 20

The Canadian new light vehicle market continues on its forward move, celebrating 29 consecutive months of year-on-year gains in August at +2% to 175.670 registrations, also its fifth month in a row above the 175.000 mark. The year-to-date total adds up to a record 1.287.993 units after 8 months, also up 2% on 2014. FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles remains the most popular group in the country thanks to stable sales at 26.928, distancing Ford Motor Co. at 26.579 (-5%) and General Motors at 24.653 (+11%). Honda (+11), Nissan (+10%), Daimler AG (+20%) and Jaguar-Land Rover (+22%) also shine.
Third consecutive month inside the Canadian Top 10 for the Nissan Rogue.
Brand-wise, Ford is head and shoulders above the competition once again despite sales down 5% to 14.6% share above Toyota at 9% and Honda at 8.7%. Chevrolet is up 12% to overtake Hyundai at #4, GMC surges 16% to #8, Mercedes is up 30% to pass Subaru at #14, with Acura, Porsche (+23%), Lexus (+26%), Land Rover (+29%), Mini (+38%), Cadillac (+52%) and Volvo (+56%) all lodging spectacular gains.
The Jeep Cherokee is only 163 units off a historical Top 10 ranking in Canada.
Even though it drops by 11% year-on-year, the Ford F-Series has resumed its implacable domination of the Canadian models ranking, seeing its advantage over the #2, the Ram Pickup (-9%), grow significantly from 737 in June, 1.681 in July and 4.224 this month. The Honda Civic (-8%) completes a podium entirely in decline. Below, the GMC Sierra (+18%), Hyundai Elantra (+20%) and Chevrolet Silverado (+21%) all take off, making it an impressive four full size pickup trucks in the August Top 6 vs. four in the year-to-date Top 8 and four in the Top 18 in the U.S.
The Ford F-Series is back to implacable domination in Canada.
The Nissan Rogue (+30%) lodges a third consecutive month at an all-time high 10th spot, the Jeep Cherokee (+70%) stops 163 units short off a historical Top 10 ranking, the Dodge Journey is up a spectacular 50% at #15, the new generation boosts Hyundai Tucson sales up 120% from #45 in July to #18 in August, the Ford Explorer surges 59%, the Honda HR-V is down two spots on last month to #29, the Mazda CX-3 is down 7 to #51 and the Honda Pilot (+73%), Toyota Tacoma (+39%) and Jeep Patriot (+92%) all impress.
