New car sales in Croatia are up 9% year-on-year in July to 3.324 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total to 24.899 units, up 3% on 2014. Volkswagen dominates the brands ranking with 14% share above Renault (8.5%), Opel (8.1%), Skoda and Ford (both at 7.9%). The Renault Clio remains the best-selling nameplate in the country for the 2nd month running thanks to 183 sales and 5.5% share and is followed this time by the Seat Leon shooting up 13 spots on June to 2nd place and 4.4% share, also earning a spot in the 2015 Top 20 at #17 and 1.7%. The Leon performance is to be taken with a grain of salt though as Croatia belongs to Eastern European countries where re-export practices are rife, the Volkswagen Group having illustrated itself as one of the largest culprits of this method. This way, the 2nd place of the Leon in Croatia this month does not particularly reflect a sudden attractiveness at home, rather more buyers in Western Europe. The third place of the VW Passat is to be filed in the same cabinet. The top sellers year-to-date are relegated further down the ranking: the Opel Astra ranks 5th and the VW Golf 6th.
