Whereas metropolitan France is up by a very encouraging 15% in June, new car sales in New Caledonia, an overseas French territory located north-east of Australia, are stuck in muddy waters: down another 22% this month to just 671 registrations, bringing the year-to-date tally halfway through 2015 to 4.252 units, down 11% on 2014. French-Romanian low-cost manufacturer Dacia spectacularly takes the lead of the New Caledonian brands ranking in June thanks to 74 sales and 11% market share, now ranking #2 year-to-date at 8.7% above Peugeot. Traditional leader Ford is kicked down to 2nd place at 10.7% share while Toyota surges 5 spots on May to third place and a round 10% share. The French manufacturers are in difficulty: Peugeot and Citroen are down two ranks to #4 and #5 respectively while Renault is down one to #8. Notice also Mitsubishi up 9 to #11.
The Toyota Hilux is #1 in New Caledonia in June.
The New Caledonian models ranking gets a complete reshuffle this month: the Toyota Hilux is back up 17 spots on May to land in pole position for the first time since March 2013 with 51 sales and 7.6% share above the Dacia Duster at a very strong 6% of the market and the Nissan Navara up one further spot on May to #3 and 5.1%. The Ford Ranger, still #1 year-to-date and by far, is knocked down to #5 below the Fiesta. Notice also the Citroen C4 Cactus up 10 ranks to #9, the Dacia Logan posting a Top 10 ranking for the 2nd month running, the Ford Transit up 34 spots to #12, the Subaru XV up 7 to #14 and the Mini Countryman shooting up to #26 above the Renault Clio.
