Réunion (France) Full Year 2014: Peugeot and its 208 dominate

For the second consecutive year I can give you official data for the Réunion Island, an overseas French territory located East of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean and home of 800,000 inhabitants. New car sales on the island are up a vigorous 6% year-on-year to 25.365 registrations (vs. +0.3% in Metropolitan France), mainly boosted by sales to companies (+10%) and rentals (+15%). As opposed to another overseas territory like New Caledonia, the Réunion sales charts are very similar to Metropolitan France despite despite the distance. There are however a few differences: Peugeot (16.5%) outsells Renault (13.8%) for example, Citroen (6.8%) remains in third place but Dacia at #4 is above Volkswagen. The Peugeot 208 overtakes the Renault Clio to be crowned best-seller in Réunion, with the Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008 and Dacia Duster rounding up the Top 5 models.
