New car sales in Germany are up a robust 6% year-on-year in April to 291.395 registrations, bringing the 2015 total after 4 months to 1.049.025 deliveries, also up 6% on 2014. Ford (+13%) and Opel (+7%) are starting to catch up and could reclaim the #2 and #3 spot longer term if their respective recovery strategies bear fruit. At the tail end of the Top 10, Skoda (+10%), Renault (+18%), Hyundai (+10%) and Seat (+12%) all post very strong result. Further down, notice Nissan (+28%), Mini (+39%), Smart (+49%), Jeep (+79%) and Mitsubishi (+106%) take off.

As it has been the case for the past couple of months, the VW Golf (+15%) and Passat (+27%) deliver outstanding results atop the models ranking, the former thanks to the addition of the Sportsvan variant over the course of the past year (separate sales not indicated) and the latter due to the arrival of the much-improved new generation. Despite sales down 4% on April 2014, the Audi A3 is back onto the podium, dislodging the VW Polo while the Ford Focus (+23%) and Opel Corsa (+16%) get a boost from the new model. The Opel Astra is back up 17% to #9, the Audi A6 brilliantly breaks into the overall Top 10 (+32%), the Skoda Fabia is up 47% at #15 and the Seat Leon up a further 19% to #17 and 3.805 deliveries. Finally 3 new nameplates make their entrance in the German ranking in April: the Opel Karl lands at #243, the Mazda CX-3 at #253 and the Renault Kadjar at #261.
