New car sales in Greece confirm once again they are on the mend: up 11% year-on-year to 6,529 registrations, bringing the 1st Quarter result to 17,271 units, up 4% on 2014. Volkswagen takes the lead of the brands ranking this month thanks to 717 sales, edging past Nissan (716) while perennial leader Toyota (629) is third but keeps the pole position year-to-date. Like the phoenix, Peugeot is reborn from its ashes with sales up 6-fold on a year ago to 5th place and 6% market share. Notice also Hyundai up 149%, Citroen up 38%, Audi up 84% and Renault up 53%. The Toyota Yaris remains the most popular nameplate thanks to 361 sales this month, however the Nissan Micra is fast approaching at 340 units, with the VW Polo rounding up the podium at 317. In fact, the entire Top 6 is composed of superminis in March: the Opel Corsa is #4, the Hyundai i20 #5 and the Peugeot 208 #6. Notice also the Audi A3 up 16 spots on February to #12, the VW Up up 32 to #17 and the Suzuki Celerio up 109 to a best-ever #26. Finally, the Suzuki Vitara lands directly at #42 with 42 deliveries for its first month in the Greek market.
