New car sales in Taiwan are up a beautiful 8% year-on-year in January to 47,986 registrations, the best January score since 2011. Toyota is above 30% share thanks to 14,571 sales, followed by Nissan (11.1%), Mitsubishi (10.7%), Honda (6.6%), Mazda shooting up to #5 and 5.2% share thanks to the Mazda3 up to #11 while local manufacturer Luxgen is up to #7 and 4.8% share. The Toyota Corolla remains the best-selling nameplate in the country by far with a mammoth 12.2% share ahead of the Toyota RAV4 and Yaris like in December. The Luxgen U6 Turbo is back up to a splendid 6th place with 1,460 sales and 3% share, the Mitsubishi Outlander continues its progression at #15, the Hyundai Santa Fe is up to #21, the Volvo S60 up to #37 and the Lexus NX up to #43.
