Finland January 2015: BMW 5 Series and VW Golf Sportsvan shine

The BMW 5 Series is up to a fantastic 5th place in Finland.

Very difficult start of the year for the Finnish new car market, down a harsh 19% year-on-year in January to 10,209 registrations. In this depressed context, Volkswagen cements its leadership with 1,295 sales and 12.7% share vs. 9.2% for Skoda and Toyota, equal #2 this month. BMW jumps to #5 brand overall with a huge 7.2% share, mainly due to an exceptional month by the 5 Series up to 5th place and 2.8% share. The Skoda Octavia keeps the models pole position despite sales down 22% on January 2014, it is followed this month by the Nissan Qashqai, up a flamboyant 67% year-on-year, and the VW Golf tumbling down 48%. Boosted by the new generation, the VW Passat is up 46% to #4, while the Volvo V40 is up 54% to #8 and the Ford Mondeo is up 86% to #13. The VW Golf Sportsvan lodges its 2nd ever month inside the Finnish Top 10 at #9 with 223 units and 2.2% share.
