Argentina January 2015: The freefall continues at -39%

The VW Gol Trend is the best-selling model in Argentina in January.

No sign of improvement for the Argentinean new car market, although the January figure, down 39% to 65,550 registrations, is made worse by boosted sales a year ago. Just as it sinks in neighbouring Brazil, Volkswagen remains the most popular manufacturer in Argentina thanks to 11,960 sales and 18.2% share, down 27% year-on-year. It distances Chevrolet (-28%), Ford (-15%), Fiat (-36%) and Peugeot (-41%) while Renault (-57%) and Citroen (-58%) plummet. Model-wise, the VW Gol Trend leads like it did over the Full Year 2014, the Fiat Palio is up to 2nd place above the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ecosport and Peugeot 208. Notice the Chevrolet Onix up to #14, the Renault Clio Mio, leader in December, down to #15, the Chevrolet Prisma up to #19, VW Up at a strong #22 and the Chery Tiggo leading the Chinese charge at #42.
