As is the tradition on BSCB, I can share with you local Iranian production figures as sales data remains unavailable. For now this is a pretty accurate picture of what cars are the most popular in the country as imports are relatively limited, however this situation may change if and when economic sanctions against Iran relax, and then it will be time for sales data to be published hopefully. November 2014 is roughly equivalent to Aban, the 8th month of the year 1393 in the Persian calendar, however this month we only have access to the YTD figures. These confirm the trends we have observed this year but there is one novelty: the Iran Khodro Dena. Unveiled in April 2011, it seems to finally have hit production lines in Iran with 630 units reported over the period. Some promo pictures showing the car in display in the street (above) have also started to appear online which would seem to indicate the Dena finally is available for sale in the country. The production figures show the market has bounced back in Iran, with the Peugeot 206 back up 240% to 4th place with 64,752 units and the Saipa Tiba up 153% to #6 and 55,626 units. The Saipa Pride, still leader at 162,402 units but up just 20%, Iran Khodro Runna (+44%) and Renault Tondar 90 (aka Dacia Logan first generation, +42%) lose market share.
Previous month: Iran October 2014: Saipa Tiba at highest, production up 61%
