The Uruguayan new light vehicle market is down a harsh 25% year-on-year in October to just 4,124 deliveries, bringing the year-to-date total to 43,113 units, down 6% on 2013. Below Chevrolet improving its market share to 12.6% vs. 11.9% year-to-date thanks to 521 sales, Fiat and Volkswagen return to their traditional respective 2nd and third spot after two months of exceedingly good sales from Suzuki, now back down to #4. If Fiat is pushed by its commercial vehicle sales – mainly the Strada pickup – which account for 57% of its total, both Chevrolet (86%) and Volkswagen (67%) rely heavily on their passenger car sales. Nissan is solid at #5 and 7.8% share followed by Renault at 5.8% passing Hyundai at 5.1%. After falling to 20.6% share last month, Chinese manufacturers are back up to 21.4% in October vs. 22.7% in 2014 YTD and 23.3% in 2013. They are led by Chery (#8), BYD (#10), Geely (#12), Great Wall (#15), Lifan (#18), JMC (#19) and FAW (#20).
