Another very encouraging month new car sales in New Caledonia, a French territory located North-East of Australia: up a splendid 18% year-on-year in October to 821 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 8,344 units, now down just 0.1% or 8 units on 2013. At this rate we will be well into positive territory YTD by the time November comes to an end. This is in stark contrast with metropolitan France (-4% in October). French manufacturers don’t dominate here: Ford leads the brands ranking with 13.5% ahead of Renault at 9.9%, Dacia at 9.3%, Kia at 7.3% and Chevrolet at 7.1% with Citroen at #7 and Peugeot at #9. The Ford Ranger continues to dominate the models ranking without much competition at 9.5% share this month vs. 4.1% for the #2 the Dacia Duster. Notice the Dacia Sandero jumping from outside the September Top 50 directly to #5, the Mazda BT-50 up to #9, the Chevrolet Aveo sedan up to #13 and the Renault Trafic up to #18.
