Thanks to SMMT, after studying the UK market as a whole for September, as is the tradition on BSCB we zoom in on the British nations, now that it has been confirmed they will stay this way. A very consistent performance across the country with the UK overall up 9% year-on-year in September, the same rate as England and Northern Ireland, while Scotland up 7% and Wales up 8%. The Peugeot 208 made a comeback in the UK Top 10 this month at #9 and it impeccably replicates this performance across absolutely all nations: #5 in Northern Ireland, #8 in Wales, #9 in Scotland and #10 in England.
The Fiat 500’s record-breaking 6th position in the UK is achieved thanks to, logically, a 6th place in England but also a 4th place in Scotland and 5th place in Wales. In Scotland, thanks to sales just 100-odd units below the Vauxhall Corsa this month, the Ford Fiesta’s Full Year top spot is now almost assured, which would put an end to 6 consecutive years of Corsa domination. Other notable performances include the second place of the VW Polo in Northern Ireland, the Renault Clio #5 in Scotland, the VW Golf now #3 year-to-date in England above the Vauxhall Corsa and both the Vauxhall Mokka and Renault Captur securing a Top 10 ranking in one nation each, Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively.
Previous month: UK nations August 2014: Vauxhall Mokka in Top 10 in 3 nations.
