Sadly the free fall continues for the Thai new car market: down 35% year-on-year in July to just 69,527 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 510,438 units, down a dramatic 40% or 344,000 sales on 2013. Toyota (36% share) and Isuzu (18%) dominate the brands ranking head and shoulders once again this month with the Toyota Hilux (16.9%) and Isuzu D-Max (14.3%) topping the models charts as usual. But there is some movement below. The Toyota Vios is up one spot on June to reclaim its place on the podium thanks to 3,923 sales and 5.6% ahead of the Toyota Yaris at 5.4%. This also means the Vios overtakes the Honda City year-to-date to climb to #4 below the Yaris.
Boosted by the new generation, the Honda Jazz confirms it is now Top 10 material, up one rank on last month to a splendid 8th position with 1,992 sales and 2.9% vs. #19 and 1.2% year-to-date. The Mitsubishi Attrage is up a cool 9 spots on June to stop just short off a Top 10 ranking at #11 with 1,237 units, passing its hatchback sister the Mirage year-to-date at #16 vs. #17. Notice also the Honda Civic up to #12, the Mazda3 holding itself inside the Top 20 at #18, the Mazda CX-5 up to #22, Ford Ecosport up to #24 (and now above its main competitor the Nissan Juke) and the recently launched Suzuki Celerio breaking into the Thai Top 30 for the first time at #30.
