Israel August 2014: Hyundai i10 in Top 5, Mitsu Attrage in Top 10

New car sales in Israel are down 7% year-on-year in August to 18,236 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still frankly in positive territory: up 14% on 2013 to 173,810 units. Brand-wise, in a rare twist Kia overtakes sister brand Hyundai to take the lead of the sales charts thanks to 2,579 sales and 14.1% vs. 2,237 and 12.3% for Hyundai, relegating Toyota in third place even though the Japanese manufacturer is stable at 11.2% share vs. 11.2% year-to-date. Notice also Volkswagen up to #9 and 4% vs. #13 and 3% year-to-date and Mercedes up to #18 vs. #21.

Mitsubishi Attrage

The top of the Israeli models ranking is unusually stable this month with the Toyota Corolla in its usual pole position with 1,095 sales and 6% ahead of the Kia Picanto at 5.6%, the Suzuki SX4 up one further spot to #3 and 3.9% and the Mazda3 at #4 and 3.8%. The Hyundai i10 is up one rank on July to break into the monthly Top 5 again at #5, while only 9 after after its launch in the country, the Mitsubishi Attrage breaks into the Top 10 at #9 thanks to 438 sales and 2.4%. Notice also the Mazda2 up a spectacular 53 ranks on July to #10, the Kia Cee’d up 17 to #16 and the Chevrolet Orlando inside the Top 50 at #49 vs. #77 year-to-date and #93 in 2013.
