Although it has improved somewhat in 2014 with the VAG Group finally sharing some splits (Golf, Leon, A6…), one of the most frustrating things about German new car sales published monthly by KBA is that some models have their sales counted together whereas they are actually very different cars. Happily, thanks to Florian today I can share with you for the 2nd consecutive year a German models ranking for the Full Year 2013 with these models all split-up (better late than never). Not only that but this year I can also give you pickup sales for the first time since 2012. This is extremely rare information that you will only find on BSCB, so enjoy!

BMW 3 Series GT Germany 2013. Picture courtesy of autobild.deThe BMW 3 Series GT makes its first appearance in an annual German ranking this year.

The VW Golf remains of course the best-seller at home with sales up 4% to 192,799 units while the Golf Plus is back inside the Top 10 for its last full year in market in spite of sales down 2% to 49,775. Fragmentation is ever increasing in Germany with the #2 model (the VW Polo, overtaking the Passat) only holding a meagre 2.3% market share… The Audi A6 takes a beating at -8 spots and 22% to #23, the Mini remains #32 in spite of sales down 8%, the Seat Leon is up a gigantic 84% and 30 ranks to #33, the Fiat 500 up 24% to #36 while its SUV variant is up 294% to #109. Further down, notice the BMW 3 Series GT landing at #110, the Citroen C4 Picasso up 13% to #131 and the Seat Toledo up 169 spots to #176.

VW Amarok Germany 2013. Picture courtesy of autobild.deThe VW Amarok is, logically, the best-selling pickup in Germany.

As far as pickups are concerned, logically the VW Amarok rules the roost at home at #138 with 4,465 sales ahead of the Ford Ranger at #168, Nissan Navara at #183, Toyota Hilux at #207, Mitsubishi L200 at #224 and Isuzu D-Max at #231. Finally, let’s salute the Renault Twizy at #237 with 834 sales, the Tesla Model S landing at #298 with 191 units for its first appearance in a German annual ranking and the VW XL1 at #347 with 11 units sold.
