Uruguay (brands) June 2014: Surprise – Fiat takes the lead

4,623 new light vehicles found a buyer in Uruguay in June, adding up to 26,050 year-to-date. Shock in pole position: in a market dominated by Chevrolet for years, Fiat becomes the most popular manufacturer in the country potentially for the first time ever thanks to 515 sales and 11.1% sales, edging past Chevrolet at 501 units and 10.8%. Volkswagen and Suzuki are kicked down to #3 and #4 respectively while Chery jumps 5 spots on May to a brilliant 5th place with 300 sales and 6.5%. With BYD (#9), Geely (#11), Lifan (#14) and FAW (#15) also in the Top 15, Chinese manufacturers hold a gigantic 24.1% of the Uruguayan market this month vs. 23.7% year-to-date and 23.3% over the Full Year 2013
