Finland June 2014: VW Golf teases Skoda Octavia year-to-date

Finnish new car sales are up 5% year-on-year both in June at 9,081 registrations and year-to-date at 58,615 units. This month Volkswagen takes a definitive (?) advantage over Toyota in the race to Finland’s best-selling brand title with 15% share vs. 10.2% for the Japanese manufacturer, lifting their respective totals to 7,282 sales (12.4%) and 6,838 (11.7%) so far in 2014. Model-wise, the VW Golf outsells the Skoda Octavia for the 2nd month running at 516 units and 5.7% vs. 473 and 5.2%, meaning it is now only 38 sales below the Octavia year-to-date at 3,419 vs. 3,457… At this rate the year-to-date top spot could change hands as early as next month. Other great performers in Finland this month include the VW Passat at #5, Ford Fiesta at #7, the VW Polo up 17 spots on May to #9 and the Opel Astra up 8 to #14.
