South Korea May 2014: Hyundai Sonata now #1 year-to-date

Thanks to the new generation, the Hyundai Sonata now leads sales at home.

Sales of local models in South Korea are up 0.7% year-on-year in May to 121,239 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 586,142 units, up 5% on 2013. Now that the new generation is established in dealerships across the country, the Hyundai Sonata spends a second month in a row atop the local sales charts with 13,687 sales, enabling it to also grab the top spot year-to-date at 43,992 units. The Kia Morning is up one spot on April to #2 with 8,808 sales and a strong 7.3% share, ahead of the Hyundai Porter down one rank to #3 but #2 year-to-date at 41,859 units. Notice also the Samsung SM3 (aka Renault Fluence) up 7 spots to #16 and the Samsung QM3 (aka Renault Captur) up 8 to #18.
