Finnish new car sales are down 5% year-on-year in April to 9,215 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still in positive at +6% and 39,531 units. If Volkswagen extends its fragile lead over Toyota in the brands ranking this month (4,682 units vs. 4,562 year-to-date), the Skoda Octavia is the most popular model in the country for the third consecutive month and the 9th time in the last 11 months thanks to 516 sales and 5.6% share, up an astounding 140% on April 2013. However the two followers are catching up: the VW Golf, leader over the Full Year 2013, is only ten units behind (+3%) and the Nissan Qashqai ten further units below, up 66% thanks to the new generation.
The Toyota Avensis is back up 6 spots on March to #4 in spite of sales down 36% year-on-year, the Audi A3 is holding up very well at #8 and still #6 year-to-date and both the Opel Astra and Skoda Rapid are back in the Top 30 at #16 and #20 respectively.
