The Qatari new car market is up 9% year-on-year in 2013 to 89,876 registrations and the most popular vehicle in the country has now been unchanged for 3 years in a row: the Toyota Land Cruiser reigns supreme in spite of sales down 4% to 7,845 units and 8.7% share. It is followed like in 2012 by the Toyota Hilux at 6,770 sales (-4%) and the Toyota Prado at 4,325 (+23%). Down 2% on 2012, the Toyota Camry is still up one spot to #4, making the Top 4 100% Toyota. World-best performance of the Lexus LX is Qatar: it is up 4% and two spots on 2012 to land at an incredible 5th place with 2,291 sales and 2.5% share. Interestingly it is the only Lexus model with the RX (#69) to manage a Top 100 ranking in Qatar this year…
Range Rover sales are up 321% in 2013 in Qatar.
Potentially helped by pre-deliveries of the new generation coupled with the previous model in runout mode, the Toyota Corolla gains 4 ranks and 13% on 2012 to hit #6, while the Hyundai Elantra is up 44% to #10 and the Hyundai Accent up 55% to #11. Other impressive performers this year in Qatar include the Mitsubishi Lancer EX up 457% (!) to #15, the Nissan Sentra landing directly at #16, the Mitsubishi Pajero up 125% to #19, Toyota Sequoia up 107% to #30, the Range Rover up 321% and 64 spots to #33, Renault Duster up 143% to #47, Hyundai Sonata up 182% to #52 and the Toyota RAV4 up 786% to #57.
