Japan Kei cars February 2014: Nissan Dayz above 20,000 units

Sales of new Kei cars in Japan are up a magnificent 24% year-on-year in February to 228,994 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 432,653 units, up 28% on 2012. If the Daihatsu Tanto keeps the lead for the third consecutive month thanks to sales up 73% to 23,166, there is a lot of movement below in the charts. The Nissan Dayz takes off to #2 with a record 20,697 sales, its first time above 20,000 monthly units, potentially due to the launch of its Roox variant.
The Honda N-WGN is up 8% on January to reach a best-ever 19,254 sales even though it is down one spot to #3. As a result the Honda N-BOX, leader over the Full Year 2013, is down one to #4 as is the Suzuki Wagon R to #4. Notice also the Mitsubishi eK up 144% to #10 and the super cute Suzuki Hustler at #11 and 5,368 units.
