Brazil January 2014: Facelift boosts Chevrolet Agile to #17

For the first time since last September, the Brazilian new car market is up year-on-year at +1% to 299,768 registrations. Below the VW Gol sovereign at 7.2% of the market, the Fiat Uno is back up 3 spots on December to reclaim the 2nd position it traditionally holds in Brazil thanks to 13,629 sales and 4.5% while the Ford Fiesta, down one rank to #3, remains extremely solid at 13,179 units and 4.4%. For its part the Fiat Strada is up 3 spots to #5 with 12,373 sales and 4.1% share, its highest in over 3 years! This month the Strada even tickles the Palio on which it’s based, and has passed the Siena.
Edged out in extremis by the Chevrolet Onix last year, the Hyundai HB20 takes its revenge in January, selling 9,612 units at #8 vs. 9,290 and #9 for the Onix. Boosted by its facelift, the Chevrolet Agile is up a spectacular 19 spots on December to #17 with 4,684 sales and 1.6% vs. 0.8% and #30 over the Full Year 2013. Other great performers this month in Brazil include the Renault Logan up 7 ranks to #26, Peugeot 208 also up 7 to #28, the Chevrolet Tracker up 41 to #35 and the Toyota RAV4 up 13 to #70.
