Iceland December 2013: Skoda Octavia & Kia Sportage dominate

First December data to pop up is Iceland. New car sales in the country are down a harsh 37% year-on-year to 353 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 7,635 units, down 10% on 2012. Enormous month for the Skoda Octavia just below 12% share thanks to 42 sales, enabling it to finish the year in pole position by far. The Kia Sportage also impresses, up 4 spots on November to #2 with 7.1% share vs. #15 and 2.1% over the Full Year.

The Tesla Model S is inside the Icelandic Top 20 this month.

Kia places a second model on the podium: the Cee’d up 18 ranks on last month to 3.7% share, making the Korean brand the most popular this month in Iceland above Skoda. Other great performers in December include the VW Caddy up to #5 vs. #18 in 2013, the Renault Kangoo up to #7 vs. #35, Kia Sorento up to #9 vs. #27, Renault Trafic up to #18, Ford Transit Custom up to #19 and the Tesla Model S breaking into the Icelandic Top 20 for the very first time at #20 with 5 units sold.
