Mexico October 2013: Chevrolet Aveo reclaims pole position

It’s back to positive for Mexican new car sales in October: up 6% year-on-year to 88,261 registrations, the best October score in the country since 2007, bringing the year-to-date total to 843,576 units, up 7% on 2012 and the highest level at this time of year since 2008. After disappearing from the top spot for 3 consecutive months, the Chevrolet Aveo is back in charge in October in spite of sales down 20% year-on-year to 5,441 units and 6.2% share. The Aveo thus reinforces its 2013 year-to-date leadership at 49,322 sales and 5.8% vs. 44,706 and 5.3% for the VW Clasico, down 14% to #2 this month but up 30% year-to-date.
BMW sales are up 42% year-on-year in Mexico this month.
Like it does year-to-date, the Nissan Versa rounds up the October podium at 4,062 units and 4.6%. Notice also the Nissan Tsuru up 32% on October 2012 at #4, the Chevrolet Spark up 78%, Nissan Tiida up 136%, Nissan Sentra up 67% and Chevrolet Sonic up a round 100%. In the brands ranking, Nissan continues to reign supreme just under 25% share, followed by Chevrolet (18.4%) and Volkswagen (15.9%), Ford is up 22% on October 2012 to #4, Mazda up 38%, BMW up 42%, Fiat up 66%, Peugeot up 29%, Mini up 25%, Land Rover up 44% and Subaru up a whopping 311%!
