New car sales are up a fantastic 11% year-on-year in Denmark in October to 16,871 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to an all-time high 152,042 units, up 6% on 2012 which was already a record year! A very impressive performance in the current gloomy European context… No surprises in pole position: the VW Up is the favourite model in the country for the 15th month in a row (!) thanks to 893 sales and 5.3% share, and it is followed in October by the Ford Fiesta, up a shiny 11 spots on September to #2 with 844 units and 5%, and now ranking #4 year-to-date. The Toyota Aygo is down to #3 but up to #2 year-to-date, passing the Skoda Citigo ranking #7 this month.
With the Peugeot 107 at #4 and the Citroen C1 at #9, we have 5 of the 6 Bratislava (Up/Citigo/Mii) and Kolin (107/C1/Aygo) triplets inside the monthly Danish Top 9, with the Seat Mii at #25 the only odd one out… In fact, this month the entire Danish Top 10 is composed of minis or superminis, with the best-selling ‘larger’ model being the Skoda Octavia at #11. Other great performers in October include the Fiat 500 up to #15, Kia Cee’d up to #17, Citroen C4 Picasso up 63 spots to #19, Suzuki SX4 up 36 to #22, Chevrolet Aveo up 20 to #23 and the Peugeot 308 up 23 to #27.
