Swedish new car sales seem to have turned around: September is the third consecutive month of year-on-year gain at a very healthy +11% to 24,388 registrations, reducing the year-to-date fall to 5% at 193,065 units. After a hellish month of August that saw it drop to #2 brand in the country and lose the models pole position to the VW Passat, Volvo is back to where it should be in Sweden: at #1. The V70 reclaims the top spot thanks to 1,741 sales and 7.1% while the S/V60 is up to #2 at 1,354 units and 5.6%. In fact it is the first time since last April that the Top 2 spots are held by 2 Volvos.
The VW Golf is stable at #3 but improves its market share to 4.8% vs. 3.9% year-to-date while the VW Passat falls 3 spots on August to #4. The Kia Cee’d is up 2 ranks to a best-ever #5, also reached in July and September 2012, the BMW 5 Series is up 7 to a fantastic 8th place and the Skoda Octavia up 3 to #11. Hyundai has a stellar month: the i30 is up 4 spots to #14, the i20 up 9 to #19, the i40 up 11 to #25 and the ix35 up 27 to #32! Mercedes also shines, placing the E-Class at #18 and the C-Class at #35.
