Shock, horror: for only the second time this year and the third time in the last 43 months, the Mexican new market is actually down year-on-year at -2% to 78,351 registrations in September, however the year-to-date total is still up by a comfortable 8% to 755,315 units. And there are more shocks in the models ranking: after putting an end to 19 consecutive month of Chevrolet Aveo reign in July, the VW Clasico lodges its third month in a row in pole position in September thanks to 4,643 sales and 5.9%, and is now followed by the Nissan Tsuru up a fantastic 41% year-on-year to 4,032 units and 5.1% and the Nissan Versa up 16% to 3,963 sales and 5.1%, kicking down the Chevy Aveo to #4 at 4.9% share, down a harsh 41% on September 2012.
The Aveo still leads the way by far in the year-to-date ranking at 43,881 units and 5.8% vs. 39,861 and 5.3% for the Clasico (+39%) and 35,416 and 4.7% for the Nissan Versa. The Chevrolet Spark remains #6 but is up 94% on September 2012, the Nissan Sentra is up 85% year-on-year but down 2 spots on August to #10 and the Chevrolet Sonic, Trax and Renault Duster all seem to have plateaued somehow.
