Qatar July 2013: Lexus LX up to 4th place!

After gaining a huge 47% year-on-year in July 2012, new car sales in Qatar are up a further 23% in July 2013 to 7,702 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 51,344 units, up 7% on 2012. Dethroned by the Toyota Hilux last month, the Toyota Land Cruiser resumes its domination of the Qatari models ranking in July thanks to 631 sales and 8.2%, level with its year-to-date market share of 8.1%. The Hilux is down to #2 but only 29 units below at 602 sales and 7.8%, way above the 6.6% it commands year-to-date, while the Toyota Prado rounds up the Qatari podium as it does year-to-date, albeit with a much stronger market share of 5.3% vs. 3.8%.
The best performer this month is the luxury version of Qatar’s best-seller, the Lexus LX, up 4 spots on June to a fantastic 4th place at 209 units and 2.7%. Let’s also salute the 5th place of the Nissan Patrol, stable on last month but significantly above its year-to-date level, the Hyundai Elantra up 8 ranks to #6, the Hyundai Tucson up to #7 vs. #13 year-to-date, Mitsubishi Lancer EX up 6 to #10, Nissan Altima up 21 to #15 and the Ford Expedition and VW Passat, both up from outside the Top 100 in June to #20 and #21 respectively in July, vs. #66 and #58 year-to-date.
