The US new light vehicle market continues on its supercharged run: up a very impressive 14% year-on-year in July to 1,315,194 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 9,144,335 units, up 8.5% on 2012. If the Ford F-Series progresses almost twice as fast as the market at +23% to 60,449 sales, the pick-up heroes of the month are the Chevrolet Silverado up 45% on July 2012 to 42,080 sales and the GMC Sierra up 49% to 16,582 units at #19, both models boosted by their new generation now spreading across the country.
While the Toyota Camry unsurprisingly remains the most popular Passenger Car at #3 overall with 34,780 sales (up a solid 19% year-on-year), it’s a different Honda that’s breathing down its neck this month: the Civic is up a brilliant 30% on July 2012 and 3 spots on last month to land in 4th position at 32,416 units. Below, the Dodge Ram (+31%), Honda CR-V (+32%) and most of all the Chevrolet Cruze (+70%!) impress. Notice also the Hyundai Elantra up 29% to #11, the Toyota RAV4 up 28% to #14, Nissan Rogue up 29% to #17, Toyota Prius up 51% to #20, Jeep Grand Cherokee up 30% to #21 and Toyota Tacoma up 22% to #23.
Mercedes G-Class US sales are up 259% year-on-year in July.
Further down, the Subaru Forester is up 52% to #39, the Nissan Pathfinder up 235% to #47, Mazda CX-5 up 86% to #52, the Dodge Dart stuck at #67, VW Beetle up 85% to #76, Lexus IS up 59% to #94, Buick Encore up 26 spots on June to #104, Cadillac XTS up 69% to #109, Kia Cadenza up 22 ranks to #151, Fiat 500L up 33 to #174, Porsche Cayman up 4143% to #201 and the Mercedes G-Class up 259% to #227.
