Russia July 2013: VW Polo and Chevrolet Cruze break records

The Russian new car market is in decline year-on-year for the 5th month in a row in July at -8% to 234,569 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,567,892 units, down 6% on 2012. The Lada Granta lodges its 11th consecutive month in pole position but sees its share drop from a best-ever 7% in June to 6.2% and 14,542 sales this month. The Hyundai Solaris (4%) and Kia Rio (3.3%) remain #2 and #3 respectively while the Renault Duster continues to amaze, ranking #4 for the 5th time thanks to 7,348 sales and 3.1%.

Chevrolet Cruze

The VW Polo breaks its volume and share records this month with 7,000 sales and 3% share, staying in 5th place which is its best-ever ranking, and now also #5 year-to-date, passing the Lada Kalina. Another model breaking records in Russia in July is the Chevrolet Cruze, up one spot to a best-ever #7 at 6,644 units and a record 2.8% share. It reached its previous best in June 2012 at #7 with 6,868 sales and 2.5%.

Toyota Camry

Last spasm for the Lada Samara, up 16 spots on June to #8 with 4,954 sales and 2.1% but still down 36% year-on-year, while the Lada Largus is down two ranks to #10 and the Lada Kalina back up 6 to #15 now that the new generation of the model is starting to be available in dealerships across the country. Notice also the Toyota Camry up 5 spots on June and 34% year-on-year to #12 at 4,207 units and 1.8% and the Toyota RAV4 up 43% on July 2012 but down 5 ranks on last month to #17.
