The Finnish new car market is up a very robust 32% year-on-year in July to 8,344 registrations, but that doesn’t stop the year-to-date total from still being in negative at 64,196 units, down 11% on 2012. Whereas it had not topped the Finish sales charts for 18 months before June, the Skoda Octavia strikes twice and is the most popular vehicle in the country for the 2nd month running thanks to the new generation of the model and 488 sales and 5.8%. It is now up to #3 year-to-date at 2,382 units and 3.7%.
The Nissan Qashqai is up one spot to #2 with 350 sales and 4.2%, it is also #2 year-to-date. Excellent month for the Toyota Auris, up 9 ranks to #3 at 4% share vs. 2.7% year-to-date, and the Ford Fiesta up 4 to #5 with 3.3% vs. 2.1% year-to-date. The VW Golf is weak in Finland in July, down to #4 and 3.9%, but remains the most popular model in the country year-to-date by far with 3,013 sales and 4.7%. Other great performers include the Kia Cee’d up 6 spots to #9, the Volvo V40 up 3 to #11 and the Mercedes E-Class up 6 to #15.
