In a European context getting more depressed each month, the good health of the UK new car market is starting to look a little insolent: June marks the 16th consecutive month of year-on-year gain at +13% to 214,957 registrations, meaning UK sales are up 10% on 2012 halfway through the year at 1,163,623 units. Even better: sales to private buyers are up a whopping 21% on June 2012 at 96,931 units! Very stable models ranking, with the entire Top 5 identical to the year-to-date ranking: the Ford Fiesta leads the way ahead of the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Corsa, Astra and VW Golf.
Launched in January, Dacia continues to progress in the UK.
BMW excels this month in the UK: it is back up to #4 brand above Audi and below just Ford, Vauxhall and Volkswagen. The BMW 3 Series manages to rank within the Top 10 for the 2nd time this year and the 5th time in the last 12 months at #6 with 5,432 sales and 2.5%, while its little sister the BMW 1 Series makes its 6th appearance in the monthly Top 10 in the last 12 months at #8 with 4,687 sales and 2.2%, and now ranks #10 year-to-date at 20,007 units and 1.7%. Finally, notice Renault finally up 34% to #18 and Dacia passing Chevrolet and Jaguar to now rank #23 brand with 1,829 sales.
