England (UK) June 2013: BMW 1 Series fares better

Last UK update for today, and thanks to SMMT we now have monthly access to England specific sales figures. Given England accounts for 85% of overall UK sales, the English models ranking is extremely similar to the UK one and much less ‘exotic’ than Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales. Keep in mind these figures are already included in the UK monthly updates. In fact, there is only one change inside the Top 10. In June, the Ford Fiesta leads the way with 5% share (vs. 5.4% in the UK overall), ahead of the Ford Focus at 4.4% (vs. 4.2%), Vauxhall Corsa at 4.1% (same), Vauxhall Astra at 3.3% (same), VW Golf at 2.9% (vs. 2.7%) and BMW 3 Series at 2.6% (vs. 2.5%).

The only change is the BMW 1 Series ranking 7th in England with 4,029 sales and 2.2% vs. #8 in the UK overall, however its market share remains the same. As a result the VW Polo is down from #7 in the UK to #8 in England. Year-to-date, the English and UK models rankings are absolutely identical, with the Ford Fiesta (5.2% in England vs. 5.4% in the UK) the only model showing a variance greater than 0.1% market share.
