Denmark June 2012: VW Up! and Renault Clio IV on top

After a pause last month (-0.5%), Danish new car sales are back to record levels, up a fantastic 19% year-on-year in June to 17,550 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 91,959 units halfway through the year, up 9% on 2012 and up 5% on 2011 which were the previous two best 6 months figures for Denmark. The VW Up! celebrates 11 consecutive months at #1 for a total of 13 times at #1 in the last 16 months, and 11 times above 1,000 monthly sales in the last 13 months at 1,228 units and 7% share. The Up! has sold 7,691 units so far in 2013 in Denmark alone for a 8.4% market share.
The new generation Renault Clio continues its impressive progression: up two further ranks to land in 2nd place with 711 sales and 4.1%, it is now #9 year-to-date. The Skoda Citigo is back up 4 spots to #3, followed by the Ford Fiesta (-1), Toyota Aygo (+1), Kia Picanto (-4) and Citroen C1 (+6), making it 5 minicars in the Top 7 this month… Notice also the Skoda Octavia up 9 spots to #9, the BMW 3 Series up 11 to #14, Peugeot 2008 up 86 to #23, Dacia Lodgy up 31 to #43 and the Renault Captur making its first appearance in the Danish ranking at #87 with 40 sales.
Finally, Citroen seems to have had a very aggressive month of sales in Denmark, with most of its range up frankly on May: the C4 Picasso is up a huge 68 spots to #11, the C3 is up 46 to #12, the C4 up 12 to #31 and the DS3 up 41 to #32.
