Pakistan May 2013: Suzuki Cultus back on podium

Sales of locally produced vehicles are down 20% year-on-year in Pakistan in May to 13,302 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 64,096 units, down 18% on 2012. The Toyota Corolla keeps the lead thanks to 3,339 sales but sees its market share slip down 2.2 percentage points on April to a still gigantic 25.1%. The Suzuki Mehran (aka Maruti 800) follows the same trajectory and loses 2 percentage points to 23.1% and 3,070 units.
For the first time since last November, the Suzuki Cultus (aka 1989 Swift) is back on the Pakistani podium thanks to 1,394 sales and 10.1% share. Notice also the Honda Civic up 3 spots to #4 and 9.3% and the Sigma Defender back inside the Top 10 at 168 units and 1.3%.
