In May the Austrian new car market is down 10% to 29,094 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 139,925 units, down 9% on 2012. If the VW Golf unsurprisingly keeps the lead with 1,196 sales and 4.3% adding up to 6,672 and 4.8% year-to-date, the #2 model had not ranked that high since January 2012: the Skoda Fabia is up a huge 13 spots on April to land in second position thanks to 918 units sold for a 3.2% market share. The VW Tiguan rounds up the podium with 833 sales and 2.9% ahead of the VW Polo at 2.4% and the Hyundai i20 at 2.1%.
The Hyundai ix35 delivers its second best-ever ranking in the country below the #5 it reached last June, up 3 ranks to #6 at 578 units and 2%. Other great performers this month include the Ford Fiesta up 12 spots to #10, the Seat Leon up 5 to #12, Dacia Sandero up to #26 vs. #48 year-to-date, Ford C-Max up to #36 vs. #113 in 2012 and the Mazda3 up to #44 vs. #128 in 2012…
