The Danish car market is back on its incredible run, up 9% year-on-year in March to 14,959 registrations, which is no mean feat in the current depressed European context. Year-to-date, sales are up 3% on 2012 at 41,950 units. No surprise in pole position: the VW Up! delivers its 8th consecutive month on top and the 9th time in the last 10 months thanks to 1,251 sales and 8.4%, adding up to 3,729 and 8.9% year-to-date. Its twin the Skoda Citigo ranks #2 for the 4th time in the last 5 months at 613 units and 4.1%. The Toyota Aygo is back up 3 spots to #3 with 440 sales and 2.9%.
Another excellent month for the Ford Fiesta at #4, ahead of the Citroen C1 and Peugeot 208. All-in-all, the Bratislava sisters (Up/Citigo/Mii) sell 2,064 units for a 13.8% market share vs. 1,134 and 7.6% for the Kolin sis (Aygo/C1/107). One striking aspect of the top of the Danish models ranking is the fact that it is almost exclusively composed of city and small cars. Over the first 3 months of 2013, the VW Golf (#11) and Nissan Qashqai (#13) are the biggest cars in the Top 20! This should fit the Opel Adam which lands directly at #40 this month.
