Belgium March 2013: Volkswagen & Renault back in charge

In March Belgium aligned itself with the rest of Europe: down 11% year-on-year to 53,076 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 149,160 units, still up 0.5% on 2012. The brands ranking is back in (boring) order: the entire Top 7 this month is identical to the year-to-date ranking and the 2013 YTD Top 10 sees only two changes compared to 2012. Talk about a stable market… Volkswagen (-7%), Renault (-8%) and Peugeot (-11%) lead and all fare a little better than the market.

Seat sales have doubled this month in Belgium compared to March 2012.

Shock, horror: premium brands are in trouble this month: BMW is at -21% and Audi at -32%, only Mercedes resists. Some carmakers do manage to gain ground year-on-year, among them Nissan (+19%), Fiat (+18%), Dacia (+3%), Kia (+14%), Hyundai (+9%), Seat (+100%!) and Honda (+25%).
