The Austrian new car market is down 12% year-on-year in February to 21,196 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 48,957 units, down 4% on 2012. After one month interruption in January, it’s back to a podium 100% Volkswagen this month with the Golf in the lead at 1,145 units and 5.4% share followed by the Polo with 714 sales and 3.4% and the Tiguan at 572 units and 2.7%. The two best performers in Austria in February are the Nissan Qashqai up 14 spots to a best-ever 4th place with 539 sales and 2.5% and the Renault Clio boosted by the new generation, up 20 ranks to #5 at 420 units and 2% which is to my knowledge the nameplate’s best ranking in at least 3 years.
Other great performers this month include the Audi A3 up 9 spots to #7 with 396 sales and 1.9%, the Seat Leon up 15 to #15 at 313 units and 1.5% vs. #49 over the Full Year 2012, the Audi Q3 maintaining itself within the Austrian Top 20 at #19, the Audi Q5 up 14 ranks to #28 vs. #69 in 2012, the Mazda6 up 14 to #38 vs. #93 and the Range Rover up to #73 thanks to the new model vs. #169 in 2012. Note this month there are 10 VAG Group models inside the Austrian Top 19 most popular cars.
