South Korea December 2012: 5 Hyundais in the Top 5!

In December 135,669 new local models were sold in South Korea, up 5% year-on-year and bringing the Full Year 2012 total to 1,402,065 units, down 6% on 2011. Total domination of Hyundai in the models ranking with the Top 5 monopolised by the brand potentially for the first time ever in the country. The Hyundai Avante (aka Elantra) is in pole position for the 5th time this year with 10,290 sales and 7.6%, confirming its Full Year leadership at 111,290 units and 7.9%. The Hyundai Sonata remains #2 both this month with 9,648 sales and 7.1% and in the Full Year at 103,994 units and 7.4%.
The new generation Hyundai Santa Fe is back on the podium for the second time this year after last June, up 4 spots on November to #3 with 9,632 sales and 7.1%, followed by the Hyundai Porter at 6% and the Hyundai Grandeur at 5.9%. The best-selling non-Hyundai this month is the Kia Morning at #6, ahead of the Kia K3 at #7 with 6,987 units and 5.2%. Notice also the Kia K7 up 5 ranks to an excellent #10 at 4,633 sales.
