Mexico October 2012: Chevrolet Aveo and VW Clasico up

The Mexican new car market delivers its 32nd consecutive month of year-on-year growth (since February 2010!) at +11% to 83,171 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 785,072 units, up a solid 11% on 2011. No surprise in pole position: the Chevrolet Aveo holds the top spot for the 11th month in a row and manages breaks its volume record for the third consecutive time at 6,793 sales, also equaling its record share of 8.2% hit last month… Year-to-date the Aveo is now at 50,923 units and 6.5%, up a massive 82% year-on-year…
The VW Clasico confirms it is back in shape, staying #2 with 5,606 sales but improving its share to 6.7%, its best since August 2011. The Nissan Versa also shines in third place at 4,577 units and 5.5%, its 2nd best-ever share in the country below the 5.8% it hit in August 2011. Another model breaks its volume record in Mexico this month: the VW Nuevo Jetta ranks #4 at 3,015 units and 3.6%. This is also its highest ever position in the country and its strongest share, equal with last month.
Fiat sales are up 126% in Mexico in 2012 so far, mainly thanks to the 500.
Notice also the Seat Ibiza up to #9 with 1,378 sales and 1.7% and the Renault Duster up to 5,863 sales year-to-date. Brand-wise, Nissan continues to dominate the Mexican new car market head and shoulders with almost 25% share year-to-date (+11%) while Toyota is up 23%, Honda up 55%, Seat up 20%, Suzuki up 22%, Fiat up a mammoth 126%, Acura up 26% at #19, Infiniti up 758% at #25, Land Rover up 63%, Jaguar up 104% and Bentley up 40%.
