The Czech new car market is down 8% year-on-year in July to 11,158 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still in positive at 105,391 units, up 5% on 2011. The Skoda Octavia is totally unaffected by the impending arrival of the smaller Skoda Rapid (#110 with 18 demo sales this month) as it reaches its highest market share since last February at 14.5% thanks to 1,613 sales. Reversely, the Skoda Fabia is hit full frontal and drops below 6% share in its native country potentially for the first time ever at 5.9% and 660 units.

The Skoda Roomster manages to climb onto the podium for the first time in possibly 4 years at #3 with 329 sales and 2.9%, followed by the Skoda Yeti up 4 spots to #4 with 310 units and 2.8%. This means the Top 4 is 100% Skoda for the fourth time in the last 12 months after September 2011October 2011 and January 2012. The Ford Fiesta is the best-selling foreign model in the country this month, up 6 ranks to #5 and 2.4%, ahead of the Hyundai i30 (-3) and Kia Cee’d (+3).

Other great performers in July include the Renault Thalia up 9 spots to #9, the Renault Megane up 10 to #12, the Skoda Citigo holding itself in the Top 20 at #16, the Kia Sportage up 13 ranks to #18, the Citroen C4 Picasso up 19 to #30, the Peugeot 208 up 14 to #41, the BMW 3 Series up to #43, the Mazda CX-5 breaking into the Czech Top 50 for the first time, up 28 spots to #49 and the Dacia Lodgy breaking into the Top 100 at #95.
