Malaysia February 2012: Suzuki Swift in Top 10 for first time

Car sales in Malaysia are back into positive, up 8% year-on-year in February at 42,397 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 81,742 units, down 11% 0n 2011. The Top 4 best-selling models this month are unchanged vs. last month and the Full Year 2011: the Perodua Myvi leads at 17.4%, followed by the Proton Saga (12.9%), Perodua Viva (10.5%) and Proton Persona (6.8%).
Toyota is back in shape and places the Vios at #5 (+2), Hilux at #7 (+2), Avanza at #11 (+16), Camry at #16 (+13) and Corolla at #18 (+18). The Suzuki Swift breaks into the Malaysian Top 10 for the very first time at #10 with 527 sales, the VW Passat gains 15 spots on January to #22, the Peugeot 207 stays very robust at #26, the Peugeot 308 breaks into the Top 30 for the first time at #30 and the Suzuki Alto is up to a best-ever #37.
There are two newcomers in the Malaysian Top 50 this month: the Kia Optima multiplies its January sales by 3 to reach 152 units for a flamboyant 29th position and the Honda CR-Z goes from 26 sales last month to 81 in March in 44th place.
