Sweden is the first cab off the rank for full January 2012 figures: the market is down 3% this month at 18,686 units. If the Volvo V70 stays in an expected first place with 1,503 sales and 8%, which is well ahead of its 7.3% Full Year 2011 level, the VW Passat manages to improve on an already outstanding end of year 2011, at 1,414 units and a huge 7.6% market share, the highest ever for the nameplate in Sweden!
A promising start of the year for the Passat: could it be threatening the 16 year-reign of the Volvo V70 and become the first foreign model to lead Swedish sales since World War II? That would be a once in a lifetime achievement! In third place we find the Volvo V60 with 711 sales and 3.8%, it seems to have taken a definitive advantage over the V50, #5 at 3.2% behind the VW Golf at 3.4%. The Ford Focus (#6), Renault Clio (#7) and Audi A6 (#10) are very strong this month.
Other great performers include the Toyota Avensis at #13, Kia Sportage at #16, Peugeot 508 at #20, Skoda Yeti at #26, Citroen C3 at #33, Ford Kuga at #36, Subaru Forester at #37, Mercedes GLK at #46 and Kia Rio at #47. The Audi Q3 breaks into the Swedish Top 50 for the first time with 100 sales and 0.5% share.
