Traditionally the strongest month of the year, January sees 70,418 new vehicles registered in the Netherlands, down 6% year-on-year. The VW Polo confirms it is definitely a Dutch favourite, holding the top spot for the 7th time in the last year with 3,244 sales and 4.6%. The Ford Ka is up to an excellent 2nd place at 2,248 units and 3.2%, followed by the Peugeot 107 with 2,010 sales.
A remarkable performance follows: the Peugeot 508 manages to shoot up to an outstanding 4th place with 1,872 sales and 2.7% market share, whereas in its native France it is only flirting with the Top 20… Netherlands is definitely the 508’s best country in the world. It passes staple models like the VW Golf, Ford Focus, Seat Ibiza, Kia Picanto and VW Passat. Notice the Toyota Yaris shining at #10 thanks to the new generation.
The second huge performance of the month is delivered by the Lexus CT, up to a fantastic 14th place at 1,140 units and 1.6% share, selling in one month what Lexus as a whole would struggle to sell in an entire year in the country before this model was launched. Other good performers in January include the Kia Rio at #21, BMW 1 Series at #23 and Citroen DS3 at #29.
