New Zealand July 2011: Suzuki Swift leads, now #2 year-to-date
The New Zealand car market is back to healthy growth after a couple of months of Japan earthquake-induced disruption. At 6,705 units, it is up 12% on July 2010 and 17% on July 2009, bringing the 2011 year-to-date total to 48,717, up 7%.
For the third time this year the Suzuki Swift takes the pole position, this time with 325 sales and 4.8% share and therefore now holds the #1 spot year-to-date in the passenger car ranking at 1,978 units (4.1%) ahead of the Toyota Corolla (1,960) still handicapped by supply issues.
The Toyota Hilux is down to #2 at 262 sales (3.9%) ahead of the Nissan Navara (3.7%). Holden places 3 models in the Top 6: the Commodore (3%), Captiva (2.6%) and Cruze (2.4%).
