China LCV’s May 2011: Wuling Sunshine strong
Light Commercial Vehicles continue to struggle in China, down 12% in May at 380,424 units, with the year-to-date figure now down 4% at 2,271,890 registrations. The Wuling Sunshine leads the way again in May with 56,203 units (-10%) and year-to-date at 318,866 (-16%).
As usual the relevant comparisons for this figure are the Ford F-Series selling 42,399 units in the US in May and 214,461 year-to-date, and the VW Golf selling 45,843 units in the whole of Europe during the same period, and 210,540 since January… This brings a bit of perspective to the amazing sales figures achieved every month by the Wuling Sunshine.
The Foton Forland stays #2 at 33,292 sales and passes the Chang’an Minibus to become the 2nd best-selling LCV in China year-to-date at 182,570 units, down 1% on 2010.
