Brazil May 2011: VW Gol #1, Fiat Strada strong

Brazilian car sales are up 27% in May at 300,534 units and up 8% year-to-date at 1,351,165. The VW Gol manages to steer away from the Fiat Uno a little this month with 26,981 sales and 9%, its best market share since January and 2,717 sales above the Uno, #2 at 8.1%.
The Chevrolet Celta stays 3rd at 4.5% ahead of the Chevrolet Corsa Sedan at 4.2%. The Fiat Strada is very solid at #5 for the fourth time this year and 10,233 sales or 3.4% share.
Great performers this month include the Peugeot 207 up 10 spots to #19, the JAC J3 up 9 spots and breaking into the Top 40 for the first time at #39, the VW Jetta up 10 spots to #46 and the JAC J3 Turin up 9 spots to #60. The Chery QQ lands directly at #78 for its first full month of sales in Brazil with 721 units.
