Italy April 2011: Fiat Panda reclaims top spot
Italian car sales seem to be on the mend, at only -2% in April (157,991 registrations), compared to -19% year-to-date at 675,104 units. The Fiat Panda is #1 for the first time since November and for the third time in 12 months with 10,797 sales and 6.8% share. Fiat monopolises the podium this month with the Fiat Punto at #2 with 6.2% and the Fiat 500 at #3 and 3.8%.
Below the Ford Fiesta (3.5%), the VW Polo jumps to a brilliant 5th spot at 2.7% share and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta spends its fourth month in a row in the Top 10 with a very stable 2.2% market share. The Nissan Qashqai is back in the Top 10 for the first time in 5 months and the VW Passat is up 16 spots at #21. The Fiat Sedici is back in shape at #34, its first time in the Top 50 in over 6 months.
